Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff was born on May 3, 1986.
She was a student at the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris. Her role
includes Loup (2009) and Sleepless Night (2011). She portrays the role of
Mantis, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
(2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom
Klementieff was born in Quebec City, Canada, to the parents of a Korean mother
and French-Russian father, who worked there as a consul with the French
government. Her grandfather was painter Eugene Klementieff. The name was chosen
by her parents "Pom" because it is similar in pronunciation to the
Korean words for both "spring" as well as "tiger".
Klementieff lived for a year in Canada before her family moved frequently due
to her father's work. They lived in Japan as well as the Ivory Coast, before
settling in France. Klementieff's father, who died in the age of five from
cancer was also her mother. Also, she was suffering from schizophrenia , and
could not care for her kids. Klementieff was raised with her paternal uncle and
aunt. Her uncle, whom she stated in her own words as "like [her] first
father," died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. The older brother of her
took his own life seven years later. The second time, it was on her birthday,
which was on the 25th. After the passing of her uncle, Klementieff was a law
student for a brief time to please her aunt. But she didn't feel that the field
was attractive to her. In France she was employed as a salesperson and waitress.
Her first acting experience began when she was 19years old at the Cours Florent
theatre school in Paris. After she completed her education she was selected for
an acting competition that gave her two years of free tuition with some of the
best teachers at the school. The first time she was professionally acting was
the French independent film Apres lui (2007), playing the stepdaughter to the
lead character, as played by Catherine Deneuve. The shooting of the scenes took
three days. In one scene, Klementieff was pushing someone down the set steps,
but she fell. Gael Morel saved that footage for the final film. Loup (2009) was
her first film leading role. It is an French film about a tribe in Siberian
mountain reindeer herders. While filming, Klementieff was in a camp, hours away
from the nearest village where temperatures dropped to below zero
