Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born 16 May 1977,
is a New Zealand actress. She is known for her distinctive, soft-spoken and
headstrong roles. She is mostly seen in independent films. Her accolades
include an New Zealand Film Award. A Hollywood Film Award. Sundance Special
Jury Award. Gotham Award. Golden Nymph Award. Critics Choice Award. Screen
Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey was a teenage murderess who made her
debut in a film in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After making the
move to the United States in 1994, Lynskey launched a successful career playing
supporting roles in a range of large-budget and smaller-scale films. These
include Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a Cherleader (both
1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama (1902), Shattered
Glass (2003) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey's role as the lead in The
movie Hello I Must Go (2012) received critical acclaim as well as an award
nomination for the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer. This was a crucial
moment in her career. She has been a prominent figure within the American
independent film industry, thanks to her subsequent performances in Happy
Christmas. We'll Never Have Paris. Goodbye to All That (all 2014), The
Intervention. Rainbow Time. Little Boxes. I'm Not at Home in This World. And
Then I'm Off. Lady of the Manor. (2021). Lynskey is also famous for her
portrayal of Rose on Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). From 2015 to 2016, she
appeared as Michelle Pierson on the HBO series Togetherness and received an
award nomination for the 2015 Critics Choice Television Award for Best
Supporting Actress. She was the voice of Beatrice on Cartoon Network's Over the
Garden Wall (2014) and Megan for Disney XD's Future-Worm! (2016-2018). She also
starred as Molly Strand on the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018) and
played Rosemary Thomson in the FX miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
