Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born to actresses Melissa D. Canaday, and Edward James Hyland in New York City. At the age of 4 she got into the business by performing voiceovers and commercial work. The first film she made was Private Parts (1997). She then moved on to The Object of My Affection (1998) and then spent time on Another World (1964) as "Rain Wolfe" A child who was discovered in the park and fostered by Josie and Gary. Sarah worked alongside Amy Carlson ("Josie") several times more: Falcone (2000). Law & Order (1990). Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was cast as one of the younger "Audrey Hepburns" in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000) in the same year that she was cast as "Molly" on ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999) starring Kathy Bates, Audra McDonald, Alan Cumming, Victor Garber and Kristin Chenoweth. Also, Joe Gould's Secret (2000) and Falcone (2000). In addition to her TV and film roles, Sarah studied voice, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, tap, Theatre Dance, and performed in her Theatre and tap dance classes in "Reel to Real" at Lincoln Center as invited performers.A born and raised in New York, Sarah spent much of her time in film, television, and voice-overs for radio commercials as well as travelling with her father Edward James Hyland, and working at different theaters across the United States. After being taught at home by her mother, she attended public school through second grade. She was accepted to PPAS in 6th grade. This was the school where she remained until her graduation in the year 2008. Sarah is now 18, relocated to Los Angeles, CA, where she landed as a pilot under the name "My American Family". The name was changed to Modern Family (2009, after Sarah was chosen). Sarah is currently playing Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) won numerous awards, most notably the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
