Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora is a British artist and singer. She was born Rita Sahatciu Ora in 1990 in Pristina, Kosovo, to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. Besim Sahatciu is her granddaughter. At the age of one her family decided to relocate to the United Kingdom. Her birthplace was in West London, attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School at Earls Court and graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School. She began singing at an early age.In 2004, she was featured in the British film Spivs. After auditioning for Eurovision The Country That needs You (BBC One) and being selected to represent the UK at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. She then opted out of the competition after a number of episodes, feeling that the stage was not ready. In 2007 Ora had her first music release , when she performed on Craig David's track titled "Awkward" and then again in 2008 with "Where's Your Love" featuring Tinchy Stryder, for which she also appears in the video. Ora began to sing in bars in London. A few days after, Ora flew to New York to meet Jay-Z, an A&R inform Roc Nation about Ora. Ora was featured in Jay Z's 2009 music video "Young Forever" and "Over" from Drake. Ora got the attention of Jay-Z and he quietly signed her to Roc Nation, in which she was featured in a commercial for Roc Nation + Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was a bar owner and she began her singing performances from the same bar. Gwen Stefani is a major influence on her personality. She also refers to her father Besnik who was a pub's owner. Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran are good friends.
