ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born to Pamela Morgan (age 30) Morgan, and Michael Morgan on July 2 1989. Morgan and her sisters Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan was a multi-sport athlete throughout her childhood , but she was not a fan of soccer until the age of 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and came first in the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. In addition, she placed third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to improve her skills in soccer in Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) selected Morgan to be an All-American Athlete. Additionally, she was a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career in UC Berkeley. UC Berkeley. She led the California Golden Bears team's scoring in her first season. She assisted in taking the team to the NCAA Tournament all four years and made it into the second round twice. Morgan was one of the four finalists for Honda Sports Award. She also became the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Morgan finished her degree in 2010 with the third highest amount of goals and points at Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at both the collegiate as well as national levels throughout her education. When she first joined the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury that stopped her from playing with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April 2008. In Mexico Morgan scored her first international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a participant in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals and earned her team a gold-medal. One of these was an important win goal against Italy which resulted in the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and he led the team to victory over France. Morgan, despite U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score both goals or assists.
